Melancholic and Inspirational imagery for our film

We searched for imagery on Melancholy which captured the mood and theme of our film,
and related to our designer and aspects of his collection.

Above, shows Melancholic painter/artist Richard Misrach-his work explores the sublime, evoking beauty and grace, yet they have a sombre sadness to them despite their romantic quality.

Below are images from editorials from Vogue and Elle that express forms of melancholy:

Elle Magazine-'Edge of Darkness' (2008) - It is a shoot on a windy location, with powerful yet soft clothing, focussing on a sombre winter. The fashion is in mourning, the black lace dresses restricting and the sky ominous creating an atmosphere and mood for the shoot.

Below is the latest advertsiment 2010 for Dolche & Gabbana featuring Madonna. It is more depressing, and less poetic and romantic but the contrasting black and white colours are still sombre, and full of emotion.

Below shows a Vogue editorial- 'Girls allowed' march 2008- The shoot is dreamy and beautiful. Its a complete contrast to the work of our designer but still fits our story with a character looking back, reflecting and acting in a melancholic state of mind.

Below shows melancholic settings, showing sombre scenes

Below shows examples of gothic inspired styling, which refelects back to Markos' designs using Elizabethan and historial influences, black lace, restricting clothes, and extradordinary headpieces.

The image below shows Lady Gaga- although dressed in blood red and vampire inspired clothing the syling shows the elizabethan ruff being incorperated in the fashion, and the styling and clothing captures the essence of Marko.

All the images above show different aspects of Markos' influences and imagery which inspired our film in one way or another, therefore is valuable reference material.
